Riverwalk West

The west end of Downtown Calgary sits along the banks of the Bow River but is not connected to its waters. This redevelopment projects aims to reconnect the city with the river and encourage residents and visitors to touch the water. This project will transform a stretch of riverbank that is currently constrained, largely inaccessible, and dominated by vehicular traffic into a vibrant destination that connects Calgarians with the Bow River in a number of unique ways.

Architecture and landscape are undifferentiated along the length of the proposed redevelopment. The expressive and dynamic forms represent an unbundling of the existing single pathway that is currently static and predictable. Features include a number of built amenities including a washroom-change pavilion, restaurant, and four-season indoor-outdoor pool.
